A mountain bike trip in Mt Olympus, the most famous and recognisable mountain worldwide, homeland of Zeus and the other Gods of Ancient Greece. Mt Olympus is an all year long destination to explore, giving the traveler the chance to experience a great adventure while getting acquainted with the source of Ancient Greek history.

Depart form Thessaloniki - Ride at mountain Olympus
The trip begins at the Outline Adventures HQ where your guides will equip you with the appropriate bike and equipment There is the option to bring your own bike and equipment as long as they fulfil the requirements. Right after that, you’ll be loaded to the vans and get transferred to your hotel in Litochoro (Check transfer details at Trip Details section). After the arrival at the hotel, you will have a short briefing about the trip and then get loaded to the vans. After a short drive we’ll arrive at Tatsopou area, a spot with unique view of Olympus National Park. Shortly after arriving, we’ll get on our bikes and start riding in a beautiful forest among the trees, mostly through easy accessed gravel-roads. Approximately after four hours of easy riding we’ll end up at the starting point where we’ll be loaded to the vans in order to return back to the hotel. As soon as we’ll arrive at the hotel we’ll have a short briefing about the next day’s activities and then head to a traditional tavern for dinner. Optionally, as soon as we’ll get back to the hotel we can watch a mountain bike movie.

Enjoy the ride at Palios Panteleimonas - Visit Platamonas castle
Second day starts with a good breakfast, then we load our bikes and go for a quick visit at Olympus National Park Management Institution. Shortly after that, we’ll get loaded at the vans and start driving to Palios Panteleimonas village. Our riding route begins from Palios Panteleimonas towards Palious Porous through a mix of easy roads and gravel roads, as well as entry-level trails. After, approximately, four hours of riding we’ll end up at Pourlias square to enjoy traditional Greek coffee and homemade desserts. Shortly after that, we’ll head to Palios Panteleimonas village for lunch break in a beautiful traditional tavern. Our next stop will be the castle of Platamonas on the south-east side of Olympus and ideally we’ll end up our day with a swim at the beach next to the castle.
Ride distance: 10km
- You have limited experience with off-road riding.
- You can efficiently pedaling, braking and changing gears.
- You bike basically on forest roads.
- You have some experience on riding off-road and wide dirt trails but don’t yet have the skills and confidence to consistently ride terrain with roots, rocks and steeps.
- You are a reluctant athlete. Cycling on flat ground for an hour or so is more than enough for you and you walk any small climbs
- You exercise on average 1 hour per week (including riding a mountain bike).
- You can handle a 1 hour bike ride on flat terrain at a relaxed pace for 3 consecutive days
- Small, short hills are challenging to climb, but are sometimes manageable
Preparation of your Bike
The ideal bike for this MTB trip is a good quality full-suspension or hard-tail mountain bike with around 100mm of travel. Make sure, that your bike has been professionally and authorised serviced, including all suspensions and your equipment is in proper condition.
Accommodation – GBH
The accommodation that we use on this mountain biking adventure, is traditional, cozy hotel. We have researched these areas extensively to select the most comfortable accommodation in the region and have planned the itinerary accordingly. We try to pick members of Greece Bike Hotels, an organization that develops and certifies accommodation units, as bike hotels. GBH ensures that its members-hotels have the facilities needed for bike travelers and their bikes, to provide the best quality services for them.
Food & Beverages
The areas we will ride at this mtb trip are famous for their quality traditional Cuisine and Vineyards. We will arrange for you, dinners at cozy local restaurants and traditional taverns. After all you have to spend some quality time for Mediterranean flavours after an mtb tour!
Arrival & Departure Details – Transfers
This tour starts and finishes at Outline Adventures HQ in Thessaloniki, Greece. Make sure you arrive on time so you guides can find the best bike and equipment for each of you individually. In case you are arriving to Thessaloniki with public transportation, let us know if you need shuttle service from the train/bus station to Outline Adventures HQ with an additional fee.
Do not forget to inform us by mail about the details of your itinerary, at least 7 days before the arrival day, in order to schedule your pick up on time. On your departure date, if you wish, we will drop you off to the train/bus station.

We hope that you will never have to cancel your trip. Although, if for any reason you have to cancel, make sure you are aware of our cancellation policy.
You are required as a condition of booking to be insured against medical and personal accident risks. In this policy you must include cover for mountain biking and we recommend that you take out a policy which covers cancellation and baggage.

The duration and dates of this trip are specific. If you want to arrive earlier or expand your trip, feel free to mail us. Also if you book your own group you can tailor the trip in any way you want.
We only run small groups to ensure that everyone has the best experience possible, and there will generally be between 6 to 8 people in each group. The minimum number of people we require for this trip is 6.
Typically the riders of this tour are between 18 to 65 years old. We welcome anyone 18+ years old. Nevertheless, as long as the riders fulfill the Skill and Fitness level for this trip, age does not really matters.
Our tours are addressed to mountain bikers. If you would still like to bring your partner please inform us in order to help both of you to have a great time without losing any of our rides.
This is an entry-level mountain bike trip. We will be including a range of different types of easy trails to fun gravel roads (and even to some uphill grinds to keep you honest). We’ll have daily briefings to let you know what’s coming up.
Typically Mediterranean weather.
The trip price is €180 per person based on two sharing a room. We are more than happy to welcome single travellers. If you wish to have a room by yourself, a single supplement of €60 will be payable. Please note: accommodation is limited in the areas we’ll be riding, so if you can share with another traveller (of the same sex) it would be appreciated.
The tour includes an appropriate mountain bike, full serviced and at your size. We will inform you about the available bikes as soon as you finish the reservation process. Still, if you want to bring your own bike, please make sure that fits to our requirements and let us know of the brand, type, condition and its specifications. The price will decrease 50€ at the tour price.
