  1. Day 1 Depart form Thessaloniki - Ride Meteora trails

    The adventure begins at Outline Adventures HQ where your guides will equip you with the appropriate bike and equipment. There is the option to bring your own bike and equipment as long as they fulfill the requirements. Right after that, you’ll be loaded to our Mini Van and get transferred to Kalabaka (Check transfer details at Trip Details section). After the arrival at the hotel, you will have a short briefing about the ride. We will start from the city center and we will head by bike, to the secret monastery of Ypapanti through fire roads and easy trails. There we will enjoy a stunning view of Meteora as well as admire the, built in rock, monastery and the statue of Efthymis Vlahavas priest. After a short stop we will begin to ride back to the starting point, but through different route. After arriving back to the city center, you can optionally visit the ‘’Natural History and Mushrooms Museum’’ or just head back to the hotel to get yourself ready for dinner and drinks at a traditional tavern next to Meteora rocks!

  2. Day 2 Ride next to the monasteries - Visit the Great Meteora monastery

    Second day starts with a good breakfast and right after we fix our bikes and verify all of our gear is in shape. We will start riding from the city center towards the village of Diava and specifically the ‘’3-nations’’ spot where we will have a panoramic view of most of the monasteries. After a short break we will visit the Great Meteora monastery and then start riding back to the starting point. There’s still some time left before we depart to Thessaloniki, so you can take advantage of it and have a walk around the city center to. Almost forgot, Group photos!!

    Ride distance: 12km to 14km

Activity Level

Skill Level: Beginner – Novice

  • You have limited experience with off-road riding.
  • You can efficiently pedaling, braking and changing gears.
  • You bike basically on forest roads.
  •  You have some experience on riding off-road and wide dirt trails but don’t yet have the skills and confidence to consistently ride terrain with roots, rocks and steeps.

Fitness Level: 1-2

  • You are a reluctant athlete. Cycling on flat ground for an hour or so is more than enough for you and you walk any small climbs
  • You exercise on average 1 hour per week (including riding a mountain bike).
  • You can handle a 1 hour bike ride on flat terrain at a relaxed pace for 3 consecutive days
  •  Small, short hills are challenging to climb, but are sometimes manageable

 

Preparation of your Bike

The ideal bike for this MTB trip is a good quality full-suspension or hard-tail mountain bike with around 100mm of travel. Make sure, that your bike has been professionally and authorised serviced, including all suspensions and your equipment is in proper condition.

Accommodation – GBH

The accommodation that we use on this mountain biking adventure, is traditional, cozy hotel. We have researched these areas extensively to select the most comfortable accommodation in the region and have planned the itinerary accordingly. We try to pick members of Greece Bike Hotels, an organization that develops and certifies accommodation units, as bike hotels. GBH ensures that its members-hotels have the facilities needed for bike travelers and their bikes, to provide the best quality services for them.

Food & Beverages

The areas we will ride at this mtb trip are famous for their quality traditional Cuisine and Vineyards. We will arrange for you, dinners at cozy local restaurants and traditional taverns. After all you have to spend some quality time for Mediterranean flavours after an mtb tour!

Arrival & Departure Details – Transfers

This tour starts and finishes at Outline Adventures HQ in Thessaloniki, Greece. Make sure you arrive on time so you guides can find the best bike and equipment for each of you individually. In case you are arriving to Thessaloniki with public transportation, let us know if you need shuttle service from the train/bus station to Outline Adventures HQ with an additional fee.

Do not forget to inform us by mail about the details of your itinerary, at least 7 days before the arrival day, in order to schedule your pick up on time. On your departure date, if you wish, we will drop you off to the train/bus station.

Cancellation Policy

We hope that you will never have to cancel your trip. Although, if for any reason you have to cancel, make sure you are aware of our cancellation policy.

Travel Insurance

You are required as a condition of booking to be insured against medical and personal accident risks. In this policy you must include cover for mountain biking and we recommend that you take out a policy which covers cancellation and baggage.

The duration and dates of this trip are specific. If you want to arrive earlier or expand your trip, feel free to mail us. Also if you book your own group you can tailor the trip in any way you want.

We only run small groups to ensure that everyone has the best experience possible, and there will generally be between 6 to 8 people in each group. The minimum number of people we require for this trip is 6.

Typically the riders of this tour are between 18 to 65 years old. We welcome anyone 18+ years old. Nevertheless, as long as the riders fulfill the Skill and Fitness level for this trip, age does not really matters.

Our tours are addressed to mountain bikers. If you would still like to bring your partner please inform us in order to help both of you to have a great time without losing any of our rides.

This is an entry-level mountain bike trip. We will be including a range of different types of easy trails to fun gravel roads (and even to some uphill grinds to keep you honest). We’ll have daily briefings to let you know what’s coming up.

Typically Mediterranean weather.

The trip price is €180 per person based on two sharing a room. We are more than happy to welcome single travellers. If you wish to have a room by yourself, a single supplement of €60 will be payable. Please note: accommodation is limited in the areas we’ll be riding, so if you can share with another traveller (of the same sex) it would be appreciated.

The tour includes an appropriate mountain bike, full serviced and at your size. We will inform you about the available bikes as soon as you finish the reservation process. Still, if you want to bring your own bike, please make sure that fits to our requirements and let us know of the brand, type, condition and its specifications. The price will decrease 50€ at the tour price.
